Hi,

I have a new computer with Windows xp Home Edition. Windows Media
player pops up when I click on an audio cd, and asks if I want to
install. No. I click close to keep it from installing. How can I
get it to stop asking me if I want to install it? I do not want it on
my system. It wants to go to the internet, and I do not want it to do
that. Can someone help me with this? I wouldn't mind if it didn't go
on the internet by itself. I hardly use it anyway. Is there someway
I could just install an older version, and be done with this one?

Thank You Very Much.

Check your options, disable anything that call's out - I'm still using
9.0 and don't have an option to turn off updates, just a time when it
should check.

Some things require WMP (web pages) so what I do is have the firewall
(ZA) ask each time it want's out, pretty soon the update will call out
(while viewing whatever) and you block that one...

attempt'd to cancel the last message, it never works tho.

Try http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm
You install all your codecs and Media Player Classic [version 6.4.9.0
rev. 611]

Thank you
