Hello,

I need a freeware Bootp application that will run on Win2000 Pro and WinXP
Pro. Does anyone have any links?

Thanks,
Ray Mitchell

Ray:

I suggest that you look for a BootP / TFTP server. BootP is great for assigning static IP
address information but often you will need to TFTP a configuration file as well. For
example many HP JetDirect Print Servers will use BootP/TFTP to get their IP stack and
configure the printers for security, protocol and other parameters.

My experience/knowledge may be limited in this area, but any HP Jet Direct
(including very old ones that only claim to support bootp) can get IP
configuration from a DHCP server. My understanding is that most (if not
all) DHCP servers will respond to bootp requests.
