Hi everyone there,
I am looking for someone to help me to set up formula .
I am a newbe to excel and I am having a hard time with my spreadsheet.
My spreadsheet looks like this: column a is date, column b is: IN,
next column is: OUT,and next after that is: ON, PORR , GLR, GLI, TPC,
those are training materials.
I need to set up formula for it.
I bring training materials in and send them out to training facilities
I have been dooing it manualy so far but I would like the excel do it
for me. I need to keep records how many training materials are coming
in and how many are going out and how many I have on hand.
I would be very very happy if someone could help me to solve this
mystery.
Thanks
Irena

Hi Irena!

You don't appear to have asked a specific question so it's unlikely
that you'll get a lot of help.

Give a couple of examples of your manually input data and what you
want the formula to do and I'm sure that you'll get help.

I'd suggest that you set up your transactions in a list:

Date Item Qty
1/1/04 ON 53
1/1/04 PORR 9
1/2/04 ON -10

At the top of the list, enter the current inventory for each item. Then,
enter each transaction in which material arrives or is shipped out.
Positive numbers are incoming, and negative numbers are outgoing.

You can create a pivot table to summarize the data, and show the current
inventory for each item. There's an intro and some links on Jon
Peltier's web site:

http://www.peltiertech.com/Excel/Pivots/pivotstart.htm

You would add Item to the Row area, and Qty to the data area.

Thank you very much Debra for your advise.
I am going to set up the spreadsheet the way you suggested it make
more sense to me.
Thank you very much
Iren
