Need E-mail service

I used to have a dial up service. Now I am retired and spend 6 months a
year in each of 2 cities. Several months ago, I changed to high speed
cable, and Adelphia was the only game in town. So as not to require
continually changing my email address every 6 months, I kept my old dial-up
email address, but am charged $6 per month for this. Now I have started
cable internet with the provider in the other city, Roadrunner (Time
Warner).

Again, I would like to use only 1 email address, and want to be able to
download my messages into Outlook. Can someone out there suggest an email
account I could have that there is no monthly charge and enables download
into Outlook? (Yahoo is free, but can email be downloaded into Outlook?)

GMail is (still) free and offers POP3 access.

I would thinkk that both Adelphia and Road Runner would be able to offer you
dial-up access points in other cities as well as the broadband access you
enjoy. I use SBC Yahoo! DSL at home, but when I travel, I can use SBC
Yahoo! dial-up from the city I'm in.

I'm going to second the recommendation that you look at Google's Gmail
service. You need to be invited, but there are so many invitations now that
all you'd have to do is post your that you want an invite emailed to you and
your in. They are FREE and they DO have POP3 access...which is the service
that allows you to get email in your Outlook.

I agree - I'd go with GMail. That way if you decide to change providers
later (get rid of RoadRunner for whatever reason) you don't have to change
e-mail addresess. Easily accessed from anywhere.
