Need alot of help...

Hey everyon i'm doing a video project for school and I need some help. I
have to make a video presentation about old tv shows. I searched web
sites for video clips but I only found small,extremely bad quality 10
second clips. I have alot of shows on dvd and I wanted to know if there
is some way to save the video to my computer so I can watch it even
without the disc in my cd drive. I tried a program that records
everything thats on screne but it failed to record the video. So, if
anyone knows a way to load the movies from a dvd and then be able to
save it to my pc let me know.Thanks
