I have two IDE Drives for creating CD RW's, and READ DVD
ROMS. DETAILS OF THESE ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1/ HL-DT-ST CD RW/DVD ROM DRIVES (GCE-8400B).
2/ SAMSUNG DVD - ROM DRIVES. (ID:SD-616T-F308).
When I place a DVD-R or DVD - RW in any of the above
drives. I get an error message W.R.T to IDE Drive No DVD
Present. In other words my Drives cany recognise CD RW, &
NOT DVD-R/RW 's. This is a bad news since I wanted to
create DVD Copies and very fustrated. Please help me with
your suggestions, and kind heartedness.

You didn't give enough information. Did you just install one of them? If so
you need to set the jumpers correctly on your cd drives. Most of the time,
one master and one slave. Sometimes "cable select" is used (CS). If not then
are they both recognized in the BIOS setup?

If the information you gave is accurate, you don't have a drive capable of
writing to DVD. You've got one that's a CD writer and will also read DVDs,
and you've got a second DVD reader.
