Any good utils on mobo testing? My PC keeps intermittently locking up. I've
reduced it to barebones by taking out every PCI card. I've switched video
cards, power supply, HD but no luck. Reseated all memory and cables to make
sure of proper connections.

You're on the right track with a process of elimination. Here's some other
things to try

1. Try running the pc with the cover off to eliminate overheating as the
cause.

2. Boot to an alternate operating system to eliminate software issues. (do a
search on "Knoppix" to make a bootable CD).

3. If your memory configuration permits it (e.g. you have two memory
modules), remove one, test run, and then try the other.

Good luck.

Have you totally eliminated software/driver problems? That usually is the
place to start and the "Event Viewer" might offer some clues
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/j_helmig/wxpevent.htm . You might also
check your BIOS settings (optimization, research desired settings for your
setup) and maybe update if available. Proper cooling could also be an
issue.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, upon building a new machine, your first boot
should be into a Memtest86+ floppy disk and let it run for at least an
hour. It should go thru several test cycles with ZERO errors. A brand
new machine should burn in for a day, just to make sure. ONLY THEN should
you go to the trouble of building your HD; remember, if the mem is the
least bit flaky then the HD build will be in question.

Always repeat Memtest86+ when doing any overclocking tweak, to make sure
the memory path (which covers a lot of stuff!) is still working fine.

Have I been burned by not doing this? You Betcha! But, I learned...

Some Manufactures Take Short cuts..

The use 2 sided sticky tape to put a Heat sink on the CHIPSET ( Donnot
confuse this heat sink with the one on your CPU)

This Tape is Actually an insulator. The Chipset isnot being cooled.
if You Can wiggle that Heatsink Then they Used the Tape..

Cure is To Remove the Heatsink By Heating it with a Hair dryer, Then
Peeling off the TAPE, Now Go Get Some JEL super glue and Glue The Heat
sink Back on.. If you need More cooling , Get a 486 Cpu Fan and it
Screws right onto The Chipset CPU (pentium Fan is too big)
I learned this From a GAMERS help Forum. PC CHIPS , ECS, AMPTRON,
all use this process..
By The way AMPTRON makes all those M/b's The other companies Just buy
the m/b's From amptron and Reprogram the CMOS chip !!

I donnot play those games, But this process Cured my Lockups ( ECS m/b )
