navigation not publishing

I had to change hosting companies (yet again). When I published my website,
the navigation structure did not publish. I had to manually build the
navigation all over again. The navigation structure was intact as far as I
can tell on my copy of the website. Any ideas why this occurred and how to
keep it from occurring again?
 
How did you publish and are the FP extensions installed on the web host?
