I've installed Norton AV on my laptop, during installation it asked if I
wanted to create rescue discs, I don't have a floppy drive only a DVD/Cdr.
combo. Is it possible to configure my machine so I can write these files to
a CD or even a USB key drive?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Nancy:

Yes, it's possible. Norton AV should be able to write the disk image
to an *.iso file. The *.iso file can then be used to create a
bootable CD containing all the necessary rescue information. You will
need a program like Nero or EasyCD Creator in order to create a
bootable CD from the *.iso file. You probably can not boot your
laptop with the USB key drive, so writing to a CD is what you want.

The floppy rescue discs need to be kept up to date with the latest Virus
Definitions.
If you installed from a Norton CD, then the CD is bootable (after you get
into the BIOS and make the CDROM the first device etc.)
You can download the latest Virus Definitions each week and save them to
hard drive.
