Does anyone know how to remove NAV beta from vista. it has taken up space
on my laptop
and i can't remove it. thnx

Hi Leo,

Symantec states (quite clearly, actually) in their beta process that you
should create an image of your system before installing any beta product,
and they supply testers with a copy of ghost just because of this. To remove
the beta, you need to wipe the system and restore the image, as add/remove
isn't going to fully remove all the hooks.

That's a crappy way to provide a product to users. Can't effectively
uninstall it. Beta or not.

It's Symantec Crapware. What do you expect?

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

I really hate Symantec/Norton, and haven't used their products in years. But
maybe they are being the only honest company out there.

When installing beta "anything" you have no idea what it may do to a
functioning operating system. Maybe other companies should follow in their
foot steps in this instance.

I know, but it is what it is. Thier main reason is that they don't want any
leftovers from an earlier beta version to cause issues with a newer one.
Symantec's uninstall routines have always been sketchy at best, they're just
worse with beta software (virtually non-existent).

I will give them credit though, as they are very clear about this in their
beta program. The warning is on every release version, not buried in the
doc's. There is no "may need to format", only a "will need to format in
order to remove...."

At least Symantec was up-front about it. Normally users don't figure it
Symantec software can't be uninstalled until after the fact.

I understand that. It makes me wonder though about the final and whether or
not the uninstall works in the final, since it won't in the beta.

When was the last time you saw a Symantec product uninstall cleanly?
