For some reason, my XP system mysteriously no longer recognizes audio CDs.
When I insert a data CD-ROM or a DVD movie, everything works normally, but
when I pop in an audio disc, it shows up in My Computer as simply "CD-ROM".
If I click on it, I get an empty window...the songs don't even show up as
audio files. Other programs (Winamp, iTunes, Windows Media Player) are
oblivious to the fact that there's an audio CD in the drive. I checked the
MS Knowledge Base and Googled this group but have been unable to find a
description of a fix for this problem. Any advice anyone can provide me
with on how to fix this huge annoyance would be greatly, greatly
appreciated.
