The Shared Documents directory is a system file and cannot be removed.
It is not an "extra" directory. XP is a multi-user operating system
whether or not only one person uses it.

Instead of tinkering with system files/folders, stay safe by practicing
safe behavior. Since you didn't mention any details about the
"unauthorized access", I can't address them directly but here are some
links to help you practice "Safe Hex":

hi, thanks! like to give just the essentials.. am technical writer (do pay
attention to detail) one notice is when give specifics get 90% less
help.........

but have had different things happen differrent times, have been hacked...
not sure now, just know about probablilities, especially after check find out
bout the likes of the following, maybe you can help:

- recent (<1wk, reinstall system: xp home, zas firewall.. no longer have
passlock capability, but symptoms right now,, this hour (was concerned about
Internet Options Settings) wonder if Zone Alarm / apps change 3 areas of
lists of settings in Inet Opts: Security, Privacy, Advanced)

HAD RESET ALL TO DEFAULTS. things changed (I made no such changes to start
with)

After complete uninstall / reinstall of Zone-Alarm, this morning, notice new
/ never seen before settings in Inet options: Security: now at CUSTOM;
Privacy: now at Accpet All cookies; Advanced: Changed when hit RESTORE
DEFAULTS / CANCEL.

Consider self intermediate? but looking at advanced items... know hacks can
occur with BackdorPadador.. never knew they were there, sites dealing with
security forensics (20k blocks after bad sectors)... trendmicro loosely
describes "GREYWARE", but does not give details???????????

some microsoft settings you think would be hardwired in for security, and
give you option to turn off (in an up-front manner), instead of all:
vice-verse

specific: CP, nw conn, lan, adv, ck protect, restart.

then there's war with restoring files / fighting permissions to new (same
computer) / no support for choice before hand.. learning to use MS send
files to D: wizard, but doesn't span disks??? don't know if listed 2-4 items
here, but have found between 15-20 lengthy procedures (can reduce to likes
above, but wouldn't mind having time to post a web page on XP-Performance
Procedure/Security)..

sum: .. won't say it.. too much not pre-figured out for the masses to have
to repeat (millions of times). will send short list on next post, of some
sites found, will add yours... new section on info (thankyou very much)

- a one: hundred percent obstacle times 20 procedures times 50 steps times
50 million people x oops gotcha, start over times a hundred percent obstacle

If you are a technical writer, then you must know that clear
communication requires writing with good English, in complete sentences
with nouns and verbs. This post and the one following this one are
extremely difficult to read. If this is your normal posting style, that
is why you aren't getting help, not because "when give specifics get
90% less help". I'm not saying this to hurt your feelings but rather to
help you maximize your chances of getting useful answers.

I'm sorry, but I've tried to read this post twice and it makes no sense.
If you have a question, post it with pertinent details clearly and
concisely, using paragraph breaks or numbered points. Here are some
links to help you make a good newsgroup post:

Is there a question in here? I didn't understand what you want at all.
Please see my previous reply. Again, I am not trying to hurt your
feelings in any way.

You would be best served by writing in complete sentences with reasonable
grammar. Your post is impossible to understand - well maybe not impossible
but certainly unclear enough that one has to guess it's meaning. You might
want to rewrite it. This applies to your latter posts as well.
