The computer reboots after 10 seconds of Windows logo in startup. The speed
of the hard drive run very slow.

i tried the following
- repair using XP disc
- try to re-install the XP, but it cannot identifiy the NTFS, ask me to
format, so i stop
i also tried to move the hard drive to another computer, but it cannot
identify the NTFS of the hard drive.

how should i do, i see the windows logo, i trust the computer can enter the
partition.

i just want to retrieve some data from the computer, then the hard drive can
be useless.

Thanks for urgent advice.

If you are sure the hard drive is bad, do not access the hard drive again.
Remove the cable to the hard drive. Purchase a new hard drive and clean
install or if you have restore media restore to original shipped state.
After XP is setup, set the jumpers on the old drive as either a primary
slave or secondary master or slave and connect the cable accordingly. If the
drive is recognized and you have access to the data, copy it to the new
drive. If the drive is not recognized, do not try to make further attempts
to boot the damaged hard drive. If the information is very important, you
should probably consult a professional data retrieval service. Any further
access to the hard drive will result in less information retrieved.
You boot from the CD and do a clean install.
