my wireless is so secure that i can't even connect to it!

ok...long story. i have timewarner internet and a belkin wireless
adapter. for the longest time, i have been able to connect via
wireless to my WLAN connection but the funny thing was..if i tried to
hard-connect directly to my modem via wires, there was always "limited
connectivity" and it could not renew my ip address.
now finally i try to set up wep encryption, but realize now i should
have done this only if i could be hard-connected to the internet (refer
to problem above). i can no longer connect via wireless to my wep
encrypted connection or hard-connect to my own internet...and i now
only have access through friendly neighbors in my bldg who have not
security enabled their connections.

please help me!! either to be able to hard connect to my internet
connection, or to be able to access via wireless. thanks in advance...

(btw, timewarner tech-support employs idiots and couldn't tell me
anything new, and now i have to wait over 2 wks before a service person
comes)
 
Oh for goodness sake, just reset the router, don't wait 2 wks for a
service guy. This will bring the router back to factory defaults so
you'll lose any special settings you made (like your WEP key), but at
least it'll be working.

Read the Belkin router manual and locate the reset button. Most are
located on the back of the router and you have to use a paper clip or
pencil to press it for 10? 20? 30? seconds before a reset occurs (watch
the lights).

thanks for the reply...after calling again to time warner, they put me
through to someone higher and now it works, but only after disabling my
trend micro pc-cillin antivirus. internet works with kerio firewall
enabled, but not with av software even though i didn't install
pc-cillin's firewall. any ideas?
