My wife can't use the internet

Over the past several months our IE6 performance has degraded from
tolerablew to crappy.

First, we lost the ability to search from within the location bar. If we
type in a subject, we get a "Page Cannot Be Found" error. So we search from
the search button.

Now, when we are at certain pages, many linked pages will do the same thing
from within a site.

Adaware, Spybot, and Symantec are all up to date and all three say we're
clean as a whistle!

Should I reinstall IE6? CAN that be done? Would it help?

Go to tools> internet options>settings
This is how many megabytes you allow for temp files. I
bet it is huge, especially since it defaults to a
percentage of the drive. Knock it to 20 or 30( with the
average temp file 15k it is still thousands of files.
also delete all offline content and clean it up.
make sure you are on the latest service pack.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
