My text won't go to the end of the right margin.

When I type text into a Word document, the text wraps before it reaches the
right margin. I've tried resetting my "default" settings to old documents
where I didn't have this problem, but whenever I open a new document, the
same problem appears.

From the format menu, select Paragraph and set the Alignment to "Justified"
If you want this all the time, modify the paragraph format in the normal
style in this manner.

I would strongly advise against making the default Normal style justified,
as this will have trickle-down effects on other styles. Better to use Body
Text instead and make it justified.

Check Format | Paragraph to see if there is a right indent applied.

Thank you both for your suggestions. Neither of them worked. If you can
think of anything else PLEASE let me know. I can't understand how this
happened and I've checked every setting I can think of to fix it!

Do you have the margins displayed (Tools | Options | View: Text boundaries)?
This might make it easier to see what's actually going on. What view are you
using?

I'm using print view. But after checking the text boundaries, they are not
set to the right margin. The top ruler shows the right boundary at 7.5",
which is where I want it, but the text boundary line puts the boundary at 6".

Is there a way to change this and to retain the changed area as the default
setting?

thank you for your help! Huge progress already!!

Under File>Page Setup, what margins do you have set?

It sounds to me like you are using Letter Size paper which is 8.5 inches
wide and that you have the Left Margin set at 1" which means that the left
edge of the paper will be a -1" on the ruler and the right edge of the paper
will be at 7.5" Your saying that the text boundary is at 6" indicates
that you have a 1.5" right margin. The white area of the ruler will extend
from 0" to 6".

If that is not the case, exactly what do you have for:

Left Margin
Right Margin

The text boundary IS the right margin unless you are in a text box, say, or
a table that is narrower than the margin width. I'm wondering if you are
misinterpreting the ruler; see

My margins are set for .5" all around. Even if I set them for 1" or 1.5" or
anything else, the right tex boundary keeps showing itself shorter than the
right margin setting.

Now I'm desperate. I've taken a photo of my screen showing the text
boundary line and showing the ruler with the margin setting. Maybe I'm just
not describing it right. http://members.shaw.ca/radioisme select the file
"screen shot".

Thanks for your ongoing help.

It is obvious from your "screen shot" that (a) you don't know how to take a
screen shot (PrintScreen) and (b) the text boundary is something other than
the margin. True text boundaries are dotted lines (this one looks solid) and
will extend to connect to the "crop marks" in the corners (which I imagine
you may be seeing because you have an Asian language enabled and not because
you have text boundaries displayed). My guess is that what you're dealing
with here is a text box, and the line (at least in this fuzzy photo) looks
like the default border of a text box.

FWIW, you obviously also have "Click and type" enabled--don't know whether
that's relevant or not.

That's right, I don't know how to take a screen shot, but like I said, I'm
desperate!

I have now figured it out.

The lines around the text boundary are dotted when I expand my view to
200%+. They only appeared after I followed your suggestion to view the text
boundary. I am able to move them to match my right margin, but I have to do
that with every new document I open.

I don't have asian languages enabled, as far as I can tell...I checked my
language settings in Microsoft Office Tools...it's set for English -Canadian.

I don't have a text box open either. Every new document I open has the same
margin settings.

I'm thinking I should just reinstall office and see where that takes me.

I appreciate your help.
