When i boot my computer up, it crashes after 5 minutes.
The error i'm getting is:

System Shutdown

Must shutdown because Remote Procedure Call (RPC) was
terminated unexpectedly.

Something like that.

Anyone know what I can do to solve this problem other than
reformatting?

What application(s) are you running prior to crash?

Reformatting and re-installation is too drastic to consider at this
juncture (even though it does seem seem to be a popular "solution").

.

it's doing it before i boot up so there's no programs
running at all.

so the "5-minutes" you mention is from power-on? (That's a very long
time ... but then there is a problem).

Does the machine "boot"? YOu say "before you boot". Do you mean "before
you login"?

Is machine connected to network during boot-up? Is it supposed to be
and is not? What happens when boot without being connected to network?

Other's with more expertise can chip in here ... tried booting in safe
mode?

Is there an EXACT error message displayed?

Have you made any bios changes, added any ram or other components since it
was working properly?
