my system idle process is at 98 % all the time?

had a virus reformatted both drives and reinstalled windows XP , now my screen blinks and i cant figure out why but it also freezes my screen until i click it at the bottom of the screen in my start bar and when i go to task manager my system idle process runs at 98 % and i need help please thank you
 
A system idle process at 98% means your processor is only 2% busy, so
obviously that isn't your problem. Make sure you update your hardware
drivers (particularly video) after a reinstall. I suspect that's what's
wrong.

The idle process isn't the problem. It should report high numbers.

You might test an updated video driver - from the chip or card
manufacturer's WEBsite. If results are poor, ROLL BACK to the prior
driver. If you are unfamiliar with this process, it's best left to
someone who is.

You sure do - unfortunately there's no one here who can help you with the
kind of help you need...

Suggest you avail yourself of the nearest dictionary and look up 'idle'.
