every time i switch my computer on it starts as if it was the first time XP
starts, all my settings are in the background and i can access them but it is
like a new person has my computer and all documents and programs are
somewhere else, it loads microsoft office on every new boot too for exemple,
i have lost all my music (itune) desktop preference (picture and icons) and
have my computer's name appearing a lot and by clicking one of the name i can
then see all my programs and setting etc..
any idea anyone?

I dont know if this will be any help but if you have windowsXP and have
system restore do this. Personalise your profile the way you want it when you
switch on your computer then when thats done, create a new system restore
point and when windows loads restore it and see if its successful. Since you
could be using the internet alot make sure you have a good spyware program, a
good program would be spybot search & destroy. I hope this works, see i think
some1 is changing either the bios start up or the registry keys. Best of
luck.

thanks Thomas

i have a fair idea that it was something like that, but i know that system
restore does not work (tried it 3 times) it seems to go back to my previous
restore and then tell me that it cannot do it on the last screen, i have also
tried older restore points with no joy
i will give a go at spybot, thanks again and if someone has another idea
please i am listening
