my send/receive button in outlook does not work

My send/receive button on my outlook account does not work. Also, the F9
does not work. The only way to receive my email is to close outlook and then
open it again. Suggestions?
 
have you looked at your email settings in Tools | Options | email options.
Include this account in Send/receive (something like that).
