Check the video drivers for rotation settings.

Some laptops and desktops also let you rotate with hotkeys, like
ALT-CTRL-Left arrow, etc.

This is a feature of your video card, to support using a monitor that
works in portrait orientation. Try pressing Ctrl-Alt-Up Arrow (or
sometimes Ctrl-Shift-R) a couple of times.

It got that way because you hit that key combination by accident,
without realizing it.
