My mass storage device AKA SATA HD(30gig)
is showing as a USB device.

The only true USB devices I have currently plugged in is my mouse and
keyboard.

What is the cause of this?

On top of this error I have to reinstall windows I think....

just too many weird things going on.

Many, if not most, SATA hard drives are "hot-pluggable" and, as such, are
considered removable devices. Thus some motherboard chipsets (some NVIDIA
chipsets for example) will show the drive as a mass storage device ("Safely
Remove Hardware" icon) as if it was a USB device. Just ignore it.

BTW, you mention your SATA HD is a 30 GB one. I've never come across a SATA
HD with that capacity. Could you let me know the make/model? Thanks.
Anna
