My restore points won't work!

Tried the only two I have and neither one will work. And yes, I'm logged on
as an administrator. And no, I haven't tried doing a system restore from safe
mode.

But if that's all I should be looking to do with no other options to resolve
why it is the thing's broken, and nobody else has any suggestions, so be it.

I think I've been hacked, but then I always think that. Who knows maybe all
of M$ has been hacked.

Memory should be about the only thing that disables system restore (other
than ticking it to be turned off, which I haven't).

As I have in excess of 15 Gb free space on my C drive and about 5 Gb on my d
drive, memory shouldn't be any issue in why my sys restore isn't working.

Plus, as mentioned I have 2 referenced restore points after my having
manually removed earlier ones, and as the sys restore program is designed to
overwrite previous rerstore points when ever memory is becoming an issue,
since I have scads of memory, have set sys restore to max. memory allocation,
and for all intents and (almost) all purposes, sys restore seems to be
functioning except where I need to use it.

All these things considered, it seems obvious that for whatever reason my
sys restore program isn't working, and it's not for lack of memory or it
being disabled (which it is not).

And yes, I've tried re-booting, plus I run a mix of anti-spyware and
anti-virus that I religiously update and use daily.

On which drive / partition is your Windows folder located?

System Restore is more complicated than you seem to realise:

Hi,

There are several reasons this may occur. Let's take a look at Event
Viewer for any System Restore logs that may have been created recently
that may help us diagnosing the problem.

Go to Start - Run and type eventvwr.msc and press enter.
Click on System in the left pane.
Click the gray title "Source" at the top of the source name column in
the right pane to sort by source name, look for "sr" and "srservice".
Double click on each of these events, then click on the button below the
two arrows in the upper right corner. This will copy the event
information to the clipboard. Paste the information for each of the two
event here. There's no need to post duplicate Event ID's.

How do I use the Event Viewer to search for System Restore logs?
