I'm having problem installing McAfee VirusScan. Their
site gives some pretty simple directions to fix the
problem. Includes typing "regedit" in the run box and
then following some directions.
Problem is, regedit is shutting down after 30 seconds
before I can complete the tasks. How can I stop this
from happening?

Parker,

Regedit shutting down is a known intentional effect of infection by current
viruses. Which is most likely why you are (belatedly) installing an antivirus.
See, for example:

You might get better result from running an online scan to remove current
infection first. I have had good result from the Trend site.
<http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/license.php>
<http://security.symantec.com/ssc/home.asp>
<http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp>

Another possibility would be to install MAV while booted into Safe mode (Restart
computer then hit F8 repeatedly).

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
