What's going on with Start->My Recent Documents? When I try it, nothing
happens for about 30 seconds or more before the list appears.

The Recent folder holds more shortcuts than display on the list. It may also be that the targets
for some of the shortcuts no longer exist & Explorer is trying to resolve them. Open the
properties dialog for the Start menu, click 'Customize', select the 'Advanced' tab and use the
'Clear List' button -- then see if performance is better as the list starts rebuilding itself.

You could also look under your user profile directory for the hidden 'Recent' folder & selectively
delete older or no longer valid shortcuts.

Thanks. Clearing it seems to help a good deal. As it turns out, just trying
to use Start became a problem. I'll check the profile too.
