I just recently added more memory to my computer, and now
my pc constantly restarts itself while I am in the middle
of doing something. This is confusing me and getting on
my nerves. Can someone tell me why this is happening?
Thanks. Sappire.

Hi

Right click on My Computer, select Properties and then the Advanced tab.Click on Settings under 'Startup and Recovery' and then uncheck 'Automatically restart'. Next time your PC tries to restart you should see a Blue Screen. Could you please post the Stop Code that accompanies that BSOD?

did your problems begin after wednesday or friday when
the new updates from microsoft came out? My problems
started when i upgraded on Friday and now my usb modem is
causing a major conflict and rebooting the computer
everytime I play a game online.

Mine has rebooted a couple of times spontaneously for the first time ever.
Just downloaded the latest updates a couple of days ago, hum.

That means that your memory is probably bad or mismatched. Test by
taking out the stick you added. Is the system stable now? If so, you
have your answer. Sometimes a motherboard - particularly an older one
(and you didn't say what you have) - wants a certain combination of
RAM, or wants the smaller amount to be in the first slot, or the like.
Check your motherboard manual. You can also test the RAM with something
like Memtest86 from www.memtest86.com. There is a new variant of
Memtest, Memtest86+ from www.memtest.org. I haven't tried it yet.

If you havn't done anything else, then your PC just doesn't like the new
ram you put in. The new board may not like being in bed with your old
ram boards.
