Did you try reinstalling it?
Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs> Add/Remove Windows Components>
Accessories. Click the Details button to display the list of Accessories.

Paint will probably show up as already installed. You will uninstall it
here before reinstalling. Click to remove the check mark. Click OK. Follow
the onscreen prompts. After the uninstall is complete, log off and then log
back on again.

Return to the same spot in Add/Remove and replace the check next to paint.
Again, follow the on screen prompts. If prompted for the XP CD, insert it
into the drive and click OK.

NOTE: If your Windows came preinstalled, you may have a special recovery or
restore CD instead of a standard XP CD. If this is the case, search your
hard drive for a folder named i386 that contains the Windows setup files.
When prompted for the XP CD, use the controls in that window to redirect it
to the i386 folder.

Hi,

This fix usually works:

Close any/all instances of MSPaint. Then start/run regedit, navigate to this
key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Applets\Paint

Hightlight (click on it) that key and delete it. Close the registry editor
and reopen Paint.
