On a computer I saw in My Network Places:

C$ on this computer(joe) C:\
Local Network
ftp.microsoft.com ftp:\\ftp.microsoft.con
Internet
furlong on .. \\a-s.claton.edu\furlong
Internet


Any idea what these are

Is there any significanance to the$ symbol used in C$

C$ - Shared

On a Linux Box if you connect to an M$ machine which has shared
folders in its drives the $ sign denotes this.

Also the $ sign can be used to force hidden files to show on local
network machines.

shows on computer joe
