The procedure depends on the exact type of RAM module you are
installing and on the motherboard design.

With SDRAM and DDR RAM modules the normal procedure is to ensure that
the module is oriented properly (there is an off-center notch in the
module which must match up with a ridge in the motherboard RAM socket)
and that it is fully seated with both end latches locked in place.
They normally automatically lock into place when the RAM module is
fully seated.

One possible cause of your problem if you are installing PC133 SDRAM.
There are actually two distinct versions of this type of RAM - the
older low density modules which are double sided and the newer high
density modules which are single sided. Many motherboards designed
for the older double sided PC133 modules will not work with the newer
single sided modules, or at best will only recognize half of the
capacity of these modules.

Try removing your existing 64 mb module and installing just then new
128 mb by itself. What happens then?

Good luck
