My IP address changes when in suspend

Whenever I leave my machine idle for a few minutes and it
goes into suspended operation, I loose my wireless
network connection. My IP address either changes from
192.168.100.26 to 169.254.65.182 or else 0.0.0.0.0
Is there some way to stop this? MY ISP tells me it is a
microsoft issue.
PS please respond in simple terms as I am not a techie....

Unless your PC is a laptop, then the fix is simple: don't let
it go into suspend mode. Suspend and hibernate are very useful
for a laptop that runs from a battery, to make the battery last
longer; for non-battery operation, they power saving is not
IMHO worth the aggravation.
 
I should have stated that this is a laptop. However, I
do occasionally have problems with my other PC, but only
rarely.

Some network cards don't wake up properly from suspend mode.
Disabling and then enabling the wireless network connection should get
everything working again.
