....thinks I need to creat a connection to the Internet using the New
Connection Wizard. At the same time, I have another window opened to my
ISP's home page (I am connected already).

Under Pick a Task, on that page, I select "Keep your computer up-to-date
with Windows Update", and it opens a page that says Internet Connection
Required with a Connect button to push. No matter how many times I push it ,
it says Try Again.

This used to work (not be a problem), but thru some action since on my PC
since it has quit. Also, on my notification area on the task bar, I have no
icon for automatic updates.

Thank you in advance,

I had a similar problem after re-installing the MSN Suite. The install
thought I had a dial-up modem even though the system is connecting to
broadband. I fixed it by telling the connections manager on Internet Explorer
to not use dial-up at all. That's just with me, but it doesn't hurt to check
to see if a dial-up service has been added to the connections list.

If you have isp page and are on internet, in the InternetExplorer Tools
Dropdown you will see Windows Update even if it is not in your start bar

Thank you Will. But, that doesn't fix my initial problem. Also, I want the
automatic updates to be in my start up group so they are truely automatically
loaded.

My problem is fixed by adjusting my security settings under IE tools.

Thanks to you who offered help.
