When I try to open my document that contains 700+ pages, it only opens to
page 1 of 2. The only way to get all the pages to come up is to click on the
Ctrl+End buttons. Then it will go to 1/730 pages. Does anyone know how to
fix this problem?
I am running Windows XP Home Edition.

When you open a large document, it takes a while for Word to repaginate it.
The status bar display will not be accurate until this is done. And if you
open in Normal view with background repagination disabled, Word *won't*
repaginate.

Thank you Suzanne.
It seems that this problem in Word did not show up until I updated my
Word97. Now I work in Word 2002. The documents I have, large or small, would
always open completely with in about 1 minute. Now, I can wait up to 10
minutes without a movement in the paginations.

Okay, that's extreme. Are you running Norton AntiVirus? If so, disable its
Office Plug-in. Is the template attached to the document on a server? If so,
are you connected to the server? Or has the template perhaps been moved or
deleted? If you're connected to the server, Word can spend a very long time
fruitlessly looking for the template.

Okay, I use this document on my home PC. I am not connected to a server.
I run avast antivirus program, although I do have Semantic on my Hard Drive,
it is doing nothing. Maybe I should re save my document to make sure they
have a template attached to them.

Resaving your document won't assure that it has a template attached to it.
Every document has an attached template (by default it is Normal.dot). The
problem comes only when Word can't find the attached template, and if you're
not connected to a network, this is probably not an issue, anyway. So there
is probably something else going on. Do you have a printer installed and
selected as the default Windows printer?
