My Documents/folders/rearranging photo order

I am scanning photographs into "My Documents," then dragging them to the
appropriate folders which are set up by year. I am able to rearrange the
order of the photos in the destination folder by dragging them around, but I
am unable to "save" the new order. (No save button on the file menu). Once
the folder is closed and reopened, the photos have reverted to their original
order. "Auto Arrange" in the "Arrange Icon" drop down menu is unchecked.
Anyone have any idea on how to "save" the order of the photos in the
destination folder once I have rearranged them?

The only practical way to do what you want is to rename the files so that
the sort in the order you want them.
