I recently had the motherboard in my desktop pc fail. My profile on that
computer was password protected. I removed the hard drive, which is fine and
installed it in a USB drive case with the intent of accessing the files on
the hard drive and moving them to my laptop. All of the files are accessible
except for the ones that are in the My Documents file for my profile on that
hard drive I get the "Access Denied" error message. Is there any way to
access the folder to get the files? I have tried acessing the fle through
DOS and that did not work. I also tried to boot my laptop from the removed
hard drive, but that did not work either. Both machines are running Win XP
SP2 Pro. I would greatly appreciate any help.

You need to take ownership of the files. Take a look here for
the procedure:

Good luck
