My delete key does not delete anything

I think my problem arises from a goofed up global template...?? -- but
pressing my delete key now does nothing (whereas previously it deleted the
character at the cursor, or deleted an entire block of selected text). Now
in order to delete a block of selected text I must use the backspace. How do
I correct this?

In Word, click on Tools | Options | General | uncheck the two
boxes for WordPerfect help and navigation | OK.

I'm having the same problem, but I unchecked the boxes for WordPerfect, and
now the delete key doesn't work AT ALL. It's only in Word that I have any
problems, though.

I've already tried that. It works as long as I have the WordPerfect boxes
checked, but as soon as I uncheck them, it stops working. Word is the only
program I have trouble with my delete key, so I know it's not the key itself.

You need to *clear* the WordPerfect boxes and check "Typing replaces
selection" to make both Delete and Backspace work correctly.

That's what I'm saying. I have both of the WordPerfect boxes *cleared* and
the "Typing replaces selection" checked, and the delete key still doesn't
work at all, but only in Word.

Is it possible that you accidentally redefined the Delete key?

Try this to reset the Delete key to the default assignment:

1. Choose Tools - Customize - Keyboard.

2. Set Categories to All Commands.

3. Set Commands: to EditClear.

4. Click in the Press new shortcut key: box, and tap the Delete key.

5. Click Assign, then click Close.

Does it work now?

YES!!!! It has driven me totally crazy trying to figure out
what the deal was. Thank you sooooo much!
