I don't know a lot about computers, but I need some HELP.
My boss' father came in yesterday and installed the
upgrade for Windows XP Professional. I had been working
with Windows '98. When I started here there was a
program on the desktop for Microsoft Outlook. I started
using it for my bosses calendar and all our contacts. I
have everything in the contacts folders. Every
conversation I have had with these clients and
prospects. Also on my tasks I have all the follow-ups I
need to do for the year. ITS ALL GONE. The icon for
Microsoft Outlook is still on the desktop, but it gives
me a message the it is corrupt or the worng version and
it keeps trying to install a program "Small Business
2000". I don't know what that is.

Sounds like you will need to reinstall Microsoft Office
2000 Small Business Edition. Because of the version
change some of your system files probably need to be
updated by the installation program. Check the disks that
origionally came with the computer for your Office 2000
Small Business Edition. You should only need to put the
disk in the CD-ROM drive and try starting up Outlook again.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am trying to find the disk
for M/S 2000 Small Business. I will reinstall and let you
know what happens. Could this also be a reason why I
can't find my documents I created in Word. I can't find
my folder I set up under my computer for my personal
documents that I called Lynn? They are also all missing.

Thanks Lynn.

Your Outlook data should be in a file with a .PST extension...in Windows XP
that file may be located in a hidden or system folder, so make sure you
search those folders as well as the regular folders. Did the person who
installed WinXP make a backup of the data before he started? You should be
able to search for your Word files (do a search for *.doc)...
