How does one get these icons (not shortcuts) to appear on
the desktop for a new account?

If you can respond to the email account, then that would
be appreciated.

Hi,
To display the my computer and my network icons: right
click an empty space on your desktop, click properties,
customize desktop, selec check the icons that you want to
display.
