Hello,

I recently just upgraded to WinXP Pro at work, and am
having loads of trouble with My Computer. When I try to
access it (whether through the My Computer icon, Windows
Explorer, or opening a document in a program), I get a
huge hang up. A folder icon with a moving flashlight
appears and looks to be searching for all the drives on
the computer, and searches for about 5 minutes before it
recognizes any of the drives on my computer (hard drive,
CD-rom drive, etc). This is an incredibly long hang up
and makes it very difficult to do any work. I have
already installed all the available Windows updates....
does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? Thanks!

Jennifer,

When you click Start and then click My Computer, or when you double-click My Computer on your Windows desktop, Windows may search (a flashlight may appear) for a long time (for example, 5 minutes) before files appear.

Disable the Windows Image Acquisition service.
