I had a system crash. We restored computer but I cannot access "My Computer"
files. When I click on My Computer, a perpetual search starts and then it
freezes up. What happened? How do I restore these files?
Why can't I do a system restore to a previous month? I can't go back
farther than September.
Please help!

Hi,

Click start/run, type MSCONFIG and click ok. Go to the services tab, uncheck
the line that loads Windows Image Acquisition. Click apply/ok and reboot.
See if this helps with the lengthy delay in accessing "My Computer".

Because the System Restore folders can only hold just so much data, maximum
is 12% of the available drive space. As newer restore points are created,
older ones are purged. The size of each individual point varies greatly by
system, so there is no set number of points that are made available for you,
it is gauged rather by volume.
