My CD-RW only reads some cds.

My cd-rw (NEC NR-7900) only reads some cds. The error report log lists "cdfs.sys unable to load" and "cdfs_XP and udfr_Xp unable to load at boot". I've tried to configure the boot priority to the cd-rom first so that I can use the diagnostics disc, driver reinstallers and/or even to install Roxio EasyCD Creator 5.0 Basic (which my Dell system came with. I am running Windows XP Pro on a Dimension 4400. I've tried Dell's "Tech Support" phone line. :( Not very helpful. Can anyone help me?
 
What CD's will the burner read? Factory music CD's? Music CD's you burned
on it? Music CD's you burned on other machines? Data CD's you burned on
it? Data CD's burned on other machines? Photo CD's (VCD's)? CD's
formatted for UDF or "packet writing" applications?

It will read data and music cds I have burned or have been burned by someone else. It will not read "pressed" data or music cds.
