This is a followup to my last post. The original message
is below it.

As I said in my previous message, I am using a D-link
DI624 wireless router. The router is connected to my DSL -
and DSL into the router. My computer is in the first port
of the router. The other computer was using dial-up an an
internet connection but is at times receiving the DSL
connection. I have tried numerous settings for the Wizard,
but nothing is working. I have not set up an internet
gateway on either of the computers, it says the router is
working as the gateway just fine.
I hope this info is more helpful to you, since I am
completely baffled.

Thanks again.

Are you using static IPs or DHCP?
What are the IPs of all of your equip?

Should be something like
Comp1 192.168.1.1 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.254
Comp2 192.168.1.2 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.254
Wireless 192.168.1.253 mask 255.255.255.0
DSL 192.168.1.254 mask 255.255.255.0

Also manually set the DNS settings to your ISP for each computer.

Let us know what happens.
Are your computers 98/me/2k/xp ?

Regards
Lewis

For a computer that's connected to the router, run the Network Setup
Wizard and tell it that the computer connects to the Internet through
a "residential gateway".

Well I have fiddled around long enough that I can finally
see the other computer when I click on "View workgroup
computers", though I don't see mine. I'm not sure if I am
supposed to?? When I go to the router's configuration page
it recognizes the other computer as being the DHCP client
but refers to my computer as "unknown" and the ip
addresses and such don't seem to make sense.

comp1 192.168.0.100 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1
comp2 192.168.1.101 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1
wireless 192.168.0.1 mask 255.255.255.0
DSL 192.168.0.100 mask 255.255.255.0

oh and I am using XP

thanks for your help.

Julie

OK. Change the comp2 IP Address to 192.168.0.101
Change BOTH computer gateways to 192.168.0.100
Also set the DNS to your ISPs DNS settings and u should be right.

Good Luck
Lewis
