my antivirus software stopped

my antivirus (mcafee) stopped and when I click on it in programs the hour
glass comes on for a few seconds the goes off and the software does not
start. When I tried to re download it from the website explorer will not go
there. When I click on system restore it says system restore cannot restore
and that i must restart and try again. I have gone to safe mode and tried to
open the mcafee and it still will not open. any ideas

You may have downloaded a virus that disabled McAfee.
 
It could be many things causing it:
The drive Sector Mcafee installed went bad.
Mcafee files or configuration corrupted, try uninstall it then
install it.
If you can't uninstall it, delete the Mcafee directory
and re-install it.

Dump McAfee and switch to Norton Internet Security 2006. Your PC will
thank you. (Grin.) Sorry. Couldn't resist.
