There are mutliple versions of Java installed on my XP Pro machine
showing up in the control panel: 1.4.0_01, 1.4.0_03 and 1.4.1_02. I
use both IE and netscape 7.1. The 1.4.0_01 version shows neither
browser checked under browser. 1.4.0_03 has IE checked. 1.4.1.02 has
Netscape checked.

Do I need all three versions or can I uninstall the _01 and _03, and add
check mark IE in the 1.4.1_02 version? Sun seems to have a new version
now too, 1.4.2_01.

What's a mother to do?...lol

Thanks

Hi

Use the latest version of Java that you have on your system. 'What's a mother do to' - teach your children how to use a PC the way that I have taught my oldest grandson to use a PC - knowledge + experimentation. He is only 5 years old and already has his teacher asking for help!!

thanks Will. One question. Should I uninstall the other versions? Now
all I have to do is teach to the kids not to bring home all these
different runtime versions!

Hi

Uninstall the other versions. You will then have the option to lambast your offspring for not bringing home 'nasties'. Depending on the age of 'kids' - the younger ones can be taught, the middle aged ones might be taught, the older ones are probably hopeless cases :-)) Perhaps I'm thinking of divorces - they come in 3s normally <VBG>
