Hi,

At my company there's about 5 people using a 2002 Excel on a joint
network. When one has a excel file open everyone else would get a
message about this so that they couldn't write anything in this file.

But suddenly this dosen't work. Now all 5 can open the file at the
same time and write in it with bad results in the end (loss of
information).

I need help... anyone?

Steffen

Is the file shared?
-tools; share workbook
If so multiple users can simultaneously modify the workbook with the
conficts that this may lead to, like overwritten cells, unsaved data and
format change unnoticed until you reopen the file.

If if not shared, try to check if anybody checked on "track changes" on the
same tools menu.
This will -by default- share the workbook.

Cancel one or both settings to restrict access to the file.

Let me know if this is the source of your problems.

Greetings

Cheers Leo, it worked perfectly! I'm now the hero at the office,
thanks to you :)
