I am running XP with a SATA drive and an EIDE internal drive , a cdrom drive and a dvd-r/rw drive with a flopply disk driveand an external usb drive. My floppy quit working after I installed the last hard drive, I think it was then. I ran the built in trouble shooting help and it came up with the message that without proper configuration PC's were only compable of running 4 of these devices at once. Anyone know how to configure all to work and know where I can find the answer? I would appreciate any help

Four of which devices? You can have two floppy drives on a cable, two ide
per cable, most motherboards have 2 connections, so that 4 ide on the
motherboard. Then you could add another ide card for an additional four.

As far as scsi, you can have quite a number of them on one cable, but I
doubt you have scsi; it's not really standard.

As far as SATA, it depends on how many connections you have.

USB, you can have waaayyy too many.

So which one are you having problems with? From what you said, you aren't at
the max for any -- 1 floppy, 3 ide, and 1 SATA...
