Must remap keyboard but don't know how

As a Mac person, I've had a few adjustments to make during the month since I've gone PC
But the keyboard mapping has to go. I have tried Windows '95 PowerToys "Key Remap" which they claim will work on XP, but it doesn't seem to. The other fixes I've seen are well beyond my experience
