music skipping on play back in realplayer and mediaplayer why?

hi

when plaing back music whicjh up until a month or so ago
played fine it now skips like a cd would with a small
scratch.
i have plenty of drive space and this happens in both real
and windows media player.

seems to happen more when i have other things running or
open other files while playing.

any ideas?

You're processor may be getting "pegged". Right-click the task bar and select
Task Manager. Click on the performance tab and see if it is running high (90%
or higher). If so, a program is having a problem and you should then go to the
Processes tab to see what the culprit is. Select it and click End Process. See
if that helps.
