Music in PPT 2003

I have tried to add music to a presentation using an existing file. It's
currently in .wma. I have done everything by the book. I can play the file
within Windows Media Player, I drag the file to my desktop and it plays, but
when I insert it as a sound file, all I get is the sound icon. I can't even
get it to play when I double click the icon. Do I need to transfer the file
to a .WAV first? If so, how?

I would start by testing it with the MCI Media Player. Instructions in
