Can I name a field so that the text I place in the field appears wherever I use the field? I'm trying to use fields in Word the same way you can use text boxes in Acrobat. Put another way, I want to save myself the trouble of constantly re-entering the same information.

Hi Ken

Exactly what kind of field are you using?

If it's a textbox form field (from the Forms toolbar), it has a
built-in bookmark name, which you can see and modify in the field's
Properties dialog. In the same dialog, also check the option for
"Calculate on exit". Then use the Insert > Cross-reference dialog to
insert references at the other places where you want the field
contents to repeat. Remember that form fields are operational only
when the document is protected for forms.

If the fields are something else, you'll have to use the Insert >
Bookmark dialog to add a bookmark surrounding the field. The
exceptions are Ask and FillIn fields, but my opinion is they're too
much trouble to use except in mail merge documents (which is where
they were originally intended to be used).
