Multiple problems with statement of too many frequent password entries

Diane M Stiegel

I haven't tried to access my e-mail for a few weeks due
to family emergency. This is not the first time I have
received a message saying that there were too many failed
attempts to enter my account. I have frequently changed
my password. I live alone, and NO ONE uses my computer
except me. So I do not know who is trying to access my
account. Is there anyway to find out what computer it is
coming from? This is very disturbing and annoying to
me. Please respond either way. If there is anything I
can do, other than change my password every time.
However, if someone is trying to enter my account
illegally, this will still happen each time. Any
suggestions would be grately appreciated.

Sincerely,

Diane M. Stiegel

Diane,

You'll have to contact your e-mail provider and have them check their mail
server logs. They may record the IP address of the computer that was
attempting to access your account. They may or may not release this
information to you, but if they can confirm that it wasn't you, they can
contact the ISP of the person that was trying to access your account and
notify them of the hacking attempts. You can also go to the authorities
and press charges. They can subpoena the records from your ISP. Other than
that, you may have to change your e-mail username/address or even change
your mail provider.
